Most of Ákos's paintings are about the representation of space. In this painting, too, the main emphasis is on the representation of space and the play of lights. A central element is the movement, dynamics, pulsation, and structure of rowing boats. The intention was not a descriptive display, but a transformation of the display of the rowing movement along powerful lines of force that narrow the space. It depicts rowing and its atmosphere.
Ákos works most of the time with a painter's knife, the edges of which give the structure of the picture . The picture is built up in layers: a strong, thick, pasty paint layer on a very glazed layer , which increases the sense of space even more.
50x120 cm (2×50x60) oil on canvas picture.
